Marketing and Communications Manager – Full time – based in Reading, Berkshire:
Do you have the vision to develop the marketing and communications strategy for our growing national charity and the drive to manage and deliver it, ensuring buy-in along the way from all stakeholders?
This is a senior position, suitable only for high-calibre, hard-working people, who are educated to degree level or equivalent and have a minimum of three years marketing and communications experience.
The successful candidate will be presentable, with a warm and approachable demeanour. They will also be a confident communicator, who is just as comfortable dealing with a consultant surgeon or the CEO of a charity, as they are with a worried patient on the eve of their surgery.
They must have the vision to develop the marketing and communications strategy for a growing national charity and the drive to manage and deliver it, ensuring buy-in along the way from all stake-holders.
The marketing and communications manager is responsible for the charity’s website and social media platforms. Hence high-level computer skills and design skills are a requirement of the role, along with an in-depth technical knowledge of popular social media platforms.
On a day-to-day basis you will be creating written content for a variety of audiences and suitable for a range of different media. As such, you must possess exceptional written skills, effective proof reading and a key eye for a misplaced comma. A gift for spotting and telling stories in compelling and informative ways will be advantageous. You need to have sound judgement, always keeping in mind that Colostomy UK supports vulnerable people.
To fit in with Colostomy UK’s small dedicated team, candidates need to be passionate about helping people and fighting for the underdog. When it gets busy, they must be prepared to roll their sleeves up and wade in to help, even if it means making the coffee.
Although a demanding role, for the right person this is an excellent opportunity to join a charity at a pivotal point in its history, with plenty of scope to put their personal stamp on the way it develops in the coming years.
