My first game- Steve Fisher

Steven Fisher made his rugby league debut for Team Colostomy UK on November 9th 2019 against Aldershot & Fleet Masters in Hampshire. This is his story.

“I hit rock bottom in 2018, I tragically lost my mum to cancer and very quickly a severe flare up of my ulcerative colitis led to me being admitted to hospital. The biologically treatments were unsuccessful leading to three massive surgeries within six weeks of each other; including isolated and long stays under ICU away from my children – I made a “bucket list” including to play sport again.

Playing and scoring in my first match for Team Colostomy UK at Aldershot & Fleet, and having my kids there to watch it was absolutely amazing – my kids loved it, my wife had goose bumps and said it was like going back in time watching me play. The charity is amazing it does such wonderful work and helps a variety of every day people, not every disability is visible and this charity is helping bring this to the forefront of people’s minds.”
