Kaven Ellison is another Team Colostomy UK original. Here he tells us what it means to him to pull on our purple jersey

“From the first conversation I had with Giovanni back in 2018 the whole concept of Team Colostomy UK has had me hooked. A tweet was sent out asking for any people with stomas, who played rugby, to contact Colostomy UK about a possible team. That was me, what a rare & strange chance that I fitted the bill! I’d played & coached Rugby League for a number of years and had had my ileostomy for a couple of years at this point so I jumped at the chance!

The first hit out, after lots of organising, was down at Medway in Kent. Now from the North West this isn’t an easy or short journey, and with it being the first game I was apprehensive about making the great mooch, but looking back I’m so glad I did it!

Myself & my mum (Chorley Panthers #1 fan 2010) jumped on the train & made our way down south, and that’s where the journey began!

From then until now I’ve made new friends & great memories through this team/charity which I’m thoroughly grateful for. I can’t wait to see what the future brings”
