Join us for a triple header of rugby league in August! After the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to cancel our plans for 2020 we’re delighted and excited to see the return of Team Colostomy UK Rugby League games on 14th August at Weavering Warriors RFC.

The British Healthcare Trades Association, who represent Dispensing Appliance Contractors (DACs) in England, are looking to set up a patient panel to give feedback on the services provided to patients for their Stoma appliances from DACs and pharmacies.

On Father’s Day we’re pleased to share Adam’s story. His young son struggled to come to terms with his dad’s illness and stoma surgery, so Adam had to find ways to communicate and help his son to understand. 

As this week is Volunteer’s Week, we spoke to Emma Howell, our Volunteers Manager. Emma, who has been with the charity since March 2019, is responsible for recruiting, supporting, and training volunteers. Colostomy UK has nearly 100 volunteers and she said the best part of her role is getting to know them and spending time with them!

With volunteers being so integral to everything we do, we are saying a HUGE THANK YOU to our volunteers during Volunteers Week. Colostomy UK was founded on the outcome of study that showed peer-to-peer experience-based support is of great benefit to people with stomas and we have developed as a volunteer-centred charity.
