Gerardine Togher had emergency stoma surgery just five months ago in March, and although it saved her life what came next she describes as “a slow and shaky start”.
“It was emotional. I didn’t really know much about living with a stoma and in those early days struggled to accept my new life. With encouragement from my family , friends, and the endless support from my surgeon, stoma nurses and Colostomy UK it’s a different story now.”
Prior to surgery Gerardine had enjoyed being active and aims to get back to running eventually. “I have chosen to do a 39 minute walk every day for 39 days to raise funds to support and continue the amazing work of Colostomy UK.”
