Queen Alexandra Hospital awarded 2019 Purple Iris award

Queen Alexandra Hospital have been awarded the 2019 Colostomy UK Purple Iris award.

The award which has been running biennially since 2013, is voted for by patients and recognises outstanding stoma care in community and clinical settings.

Accessible Travel. How are our Airports doing?

Colostomy UK have been working with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and several major UK Airports since 2018 to increase awareness and recognition of the needs of travellers with a stoma and other hidden conditions.

This week the CAA published their fourth annual report on disability access.

Mark’s Stoma Story: 10 years on

Father Mark Turner talks about his experience of living with a stoma, and the challenges that this can bring both physically and mentally. Mark’s story highlight the importance of the work that Colostomy UK provide with a 24 hour Stoma Helpline 0800 328 4257, closed facebook group and many other forms of support meaning that ostomate always have a plAce they can turn to for advice, information and comfort.
