After just 18 months as an ostomate following emergency surgery in 2010 for a perforated bowel I had a successful reversal of my colostomy. This event in my life was huge and pre-dated the volunteer programme at Colostomy UK. So when I had a call one day asking if I still wanted to volunteer – it was a definite Yes.
Even though my collerectal surgery journey in Bristol is just one persons experience, I feel privileged that many people have shared their hopes and fears when considering a reversal.
I hope Colostomy UK are able to continue to provide information, advice and support.
