Be Stoma Aware on World Mental Health Day
10 October, 2025

Making mental health wellbeing for all a global priority
This World Mental Health Day 2025, the theme focuses on access to mental health support in times of crisis and emergency. It’s a reminder that no matter what you are facing, everyone deserves the right to protect their mental wellbeing.
For people living with a stoma, mental health challenges can be just as significant as physical ones. Feelings of isolation, stigma, or anxiety can deeply affect daily life. That’s why we are working to make sure mental wellbeing is recognised as a vital part of living well with a stoma.
Why it matters
Mental health affects us all – in our families, workplaces, and communities. For people with a stoma, the impact can be profound. That’s why we campaign to raise awareness and encourage people to be #StomaAware.
By reducing stigma and increasing understanding, we can:
- Tackle loneliness and isolation
- Challenge prejudice and discrimination
- Empower people with stomas to live full, confident lives
Together, these steps help improve both physical and mental wellbeing.
Support is here
If you are struggling, you are not alone. Our 24/7 stoma helpline is here to listen, support, and connect you with resources:
