Colostomy UK partners with WelcoMe to make days out easier for people living with a stoma.

Colostomy UK partners with WelcoMe to make days out easier for people living with a stoma.

We know that going out and about with a stoma isn’t always straightforward. That’s why we’re really excited to announce a new partnership with WelcoMe, a simple service that helps people share their needs with venues before they arrive.

Through WelcoMe, anyone can set up a profile and choose what information they want to share. This might be as simple as letting staff know that you’ll need to use the toilet when you arrive or asking for help carrying shopping bags. You can also add personal goals, such as meeting a particular person or finding a specific item.

The idea is to make every visit smoother, more comfortable, and more discreet. WelcoMe also offers useful guidance to staff at participating venues, including information about different health conditions and charities, now including stomas and Colostomy UK. The service is completely free and easy to use. You can set up your profile today at my.wel-co.me. WelcoMe are also looking to expand their list of venues, so if there’s somewhere you’d like to see on the platform, you can get in touch directly at hello@wel-co.me.

Gavin Neate, Founder of WelcoMe, said: “WelcoMe was created to help people communicate their needs in advance, so they can personalise every customer service experience. We’re delighted to be working with Colostomy UK to make sure people with stomas feel supported and included.”

Libby Herbert, CEO of Colostomy UK added: “Living with a stoma should never mean feeling excluded from everyday activities. This partnership with WelcoMe is a fantastic step forward in making outings less stressful and more enjoyable. It gives people the confidence to plan trips knowing their needs will be understood and respected.” This partnership is another step forward in breaking down barriers and making sure people living with a stoma can enjoy life to the full.
