Colostomy UK launches new online listings of stoma-friendly toilet venues.
26 January, 2026
Colostomy UK is proud to announce the launch of our new online listings of stoma-friendly toilet venues, a major step forward in improving everyday access and confidence for people living with a stoma.
Stoma-friendly toilets typically include features such as a hook for clothing or bags, a shelf for supplies, a bin for discreet disposal, and a full-length mirror to help with appliance checks. These small but meaningful additions can make a big difference to comfort, dignity, and independence.
The new listings bring together venues that have committed to providing these facilities, helping people living with a stoma to feel more confident when visiting shops, attractions, leisure centres, and other public spaces. The resource will continue to grow as more organisations join the initiative.
Giovanni Cinque Marketing & Campaigns Manager for Colostomy UK commented on the news:
“Finding a suitable toilet when away from home can be a significant concern for many people with a stoma. Our new online listings are designed to make planning trips, outings, and daily activities easier by highlighting venues that offer practical, considerate facilities”.
Kimberley Lucock who is the mother of a young daughter (Jessica) who is living with a stoma said:
“To be honest, having a stoma makes you think about toilets way more than you ever thought you would. So having a stoma friendly toilet listing online will be such a help for Jessica and me especially when we’re just popping out, heading into town, or planning a day out. It takes a lot of the stress out of it, because you know where you can go if you need to. It just makes everyday life feel that bit easier and more normal again”
This launch forms part of Colostomy UK’s wider campaigning work to improve public toilet provision and tackle the stigma that still exists around stomas. By increasing awareness and encouraging businesses to make simple changes, we aim to create a society where people with a stoma can live full, active lives without unnecessary barriers.
We encourage venues to get involved and individuals to explore the new listings and share feedback, helping us build a resource that truly meets the needs of our community.
