Many people find that attending a support group can help. Dotted across the country, these offer a safe and confidential environment in which to meet fellow ostomates. Some are informal ‘tea and chat’ groups. Others are more structured and have visits from stoma care nurses, hold Q & A sessions, and invite suppliers to exhibit their stoma products.

Although the prospect might seem daunting, setting up your own support group can be a challenging, exciting and rewarding experience. Our Community Engagement Lead, Shauna, will be able to guide you in the right direction. We can provide you with a ‘Top Tips for Setting up a Support Group’ guide, match you with an existing support group leader, help promote your group and arrange Colostomy UK literature for your attendees.
