For Healthcare Professionals and Support Groups

We provide a range of services and literature for NHS stoma care teams, other healthcare professionals (including Occupational Therapists and GP surgeries), and stoma support groups.

We work in partnership with NHS stoma care teams and healthcare professionals across the UK to improve the support, information and care available to people living with a stoma. Our services are designed to complement NHS care by providing trusted information, practical peer support, education and resources that help people adapt to life with a stoma and live well. Whether you are supporting someone before surgery, during recovery or years after their operation, we’re here to help both you and your patients.

  • Mail-out service for Open Days and awareness events
    We can help promote NHS hospital open days, patient events and local support group meetings to our beneficiaries through our communication channels
  • NHS staff can make referrals for one-to-one volunteer support
    Fully trained volunteers can offer support to new patients by phone, in hospital where appropriate, and at local meetings.
  • Free literature and factsheets for stoma care departments 
    A wide range of resources offering practical help and advice for people living with a stoma. These are Free to download and printed copies can be posted to NHS teams and registered support groups within the UK. Our information is developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and people with lived experience to ensure it is practical, accurate and relevant.
  • Tidings magazine
    Limited hard copies are available for hospital departments, waiting rooms, and support group meetings.
  • Forums
    Colostomy UK works in partnership with NHS organisations, government bodies and healthcare professionals across the UK . We represent the voice of people living with a stoma on a range of NHS, Department of Health and Social Care, NICE and regional NHS partnership forums, helping to shape services, guidance, medical technologies and patient experience.
