Caring for a person with a stoma workshop

 

Since 2015, Colostomy UK has been delivering the “Caring for a Person with a Stoma” Workshop both online and in the community, supporting those who care for people living with a stoma. The workshops are designed for anyone involved in providing care or support to someone with any type of stoma.

96% of attendees who completed our workshop feedback survey described themselves as ‘very confident‘ or ‘confident‘ to deliver basic stoma care after the workshop.

The workshop is delivered by a qualified and experienced stoma care nurse over a 90-minute interactive session for up to 15 attendees.

The workshop covers all the basics of stoma care, such as:

• Understanding stoma formation and anatomy
• Types of stoma bags and how to change them
• Stoma related challenges
• Concerns and lifestyle adjustments
• Physical and psychological issues connected with having a stoma
• Q&A with a stoma nurse

The workshop is CPD accredited and attendees will receive a CPD certificate on completion of the workshop.

Unpaid Carers, Friends and Family: We are providing 3 free workshops throughout 2026 for anyone providing unpaid care and support to people living with a stoma. Please sign-up below:
