National Key Scheme (NKS) and photo ID Card

The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers disabled people independent access to locked public toilets around the country. Toilets fitted with National Key Scheme (NKS) locks can now be found in shopping centres, pubs, cafés, department stores, bus and train stations and many other locations in most parts of the country.

Ostomates are entitled to a  key which will open 9,000+ locked toilets around the UK. Keys can be obtained at a cost of £3.50 from  Colostomy UK . To ensure that we comply with the National Key Scheme rules, we require you to complete a declaration form  to confirm that you are eligible for a key prior to issue, if you would like to know more, please phone: 0118 939 1537.

Colostomy UK also offer an optional photo ID card for those who would like to support their use of the key. The wording on the card states: “The cardholder has a medical condition and needs urgent access to disabled facilities”. This new photo ID card has been endorsed by Disability Rights UK and will bear only their logo.  To obtain a photo ID card at a cost of £6.50, please download the declaration form above.  These photo ID cards are only available through  Colostomy UK
