Thank you to everyone that took part in Colostomy Day on 7th October. This year we celebrated super stomas and raised awareness of how stoma surgery saves and improves lives. The day was a huge success and across the country and on social media people held events, took part in activities and shared their stories and photos to show how their stoma made a positive impact on their life.

Watch this space for details of our 2018 plans. In the meantime we’d like to share this fantastic poem by dual ostomate Caroline Knight who raised money for us this year by holding a Colostomy Day 1940’s tea party.

The idea seemed pretty straight forward,
A tea party with a twist,
held at home.
Cakes, sandwiches and traditional teas

With music and fashion from the 1940’s.
My invitations emailed with a quirky design
The décor and colour scheme carefully planned.
My outfit arrived -‐ ready to impress,
Just pop the kettle on and wait for my guests.

Little did I know how exhausting it would be,
Re-‐fills for the sandwich tray and “more tea please.”
Cup cakes and cream scones were topped up constantly
Although, sadly none were for me – I’m lacto free!

The charity has benefited & that’s the most important thing.
A big thank you for everyone’s amazing generosity,
You’re helped improve the lives of those just like me…
Individuals who live with a colostomy.
